A Moment with Marcy

Nothing to Prove

There are places that seem to put your soul back in the right place.

Today, I went hiking with my husband at one of our old go-to places—the kind of trail that eventually opens up to the beach.

And every time we come here, something happens.

Whatever mood I arrived in…

whatever I was carrying…

whatever had been taking up too much space in my head…

somehow, it all gets quieter.

I think this is part of why I feel closest to God in nature.

The trees.

The water.

The sand.

The sound of the waves.

Fresh air filling your lungs.

Nothing here is performing.

Nothing is trying to impress you.

It just is.

And somehow, being surrounded by things God created simply to be reminds me that I don’t have to perform either.

I don’t have to prove my worth.

I don’t have to have it all figured out.

I don’t have to become more impressive, more productive, or more put together to be worthy of love.

I can just be.

And maybe that’s part of what God gives us in moments like this—not necessarily answers, but enough quiet to remember what was true before the noise got so loud.

We hiked.

We wandered.

We laughed.

We visited the Root Beer Barrel, grabbed lunch at a little local deli, and let the afternoon unfold slowly.

Nothing extraordinary.

And yet… somehow, everything.

Maybe some of the best days aren’t the ones we plan or celebrate or make a big deal about.

Maybe they’re the ordinary moments when our souls finally get quiet enough to remember:

I am here.

I am loved.

I am His.

And I have nothing to prove.

Today was good.

Really good.

And I think sometimes, that’s enough. 🤍🌊🌲
